摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a straight work loading and unloading path leading to a locator, and automatically load or unload a work required to be positioned by a universal loader. SOLUTION: A locator 3 for positioning a work W is fixed to the front end of a chuck body 1, and a shifter 4 is provided on the opposite side of the locator 3 so that it can be moved in the axial direction of the chuck. A gripping jaw 7 is installed to the shifter 4 through a holder 6, and the gripping jaw 7 is placed at an advanced position facing the locator 3 and at a position retracted from the locator 3 by means of the shifter 4. A jaw opening and closing member 10 is integrally and removably connected to a driving member 13, and a pin 17 is interposed between the jaw opening and closing member 10 and the shifter 4. At the advanced position of the gripping jaw 7, the pin 17 connects the shifter 4 to the jaw opening and closing member 10 so that they can move relatively, and an inclined cam 12 converts the relative movement of the jaw opening and closing member 10 into the movement of the gripping jaw 7 in the radial direction of the chuck. In a rear section of the advanced position, the pin 17 connects the shifter 4 and the jaw opening and closing member 10 so that they can be integrally moved.
