PURPOSE: A radio resource control message transmitting method in an asynchronous mobile communication system is provided to smoothly perform an RRC(Radio Resource Control) message transmission between an asynchronous terminal and an asynchronous radio network regardless of types of connected core network(a GSM-MAP core network, an asynchronous core network, and an ANSI-41 core network, a synchronous core network). CONSTITUTION: An asynchronous terminal receives a system information message transmitted from a radio network of an asynchronous communication system through a broadcast channel, searches a master system information block from the received message and obtains information on a type of a core network(S111). The asynchronous terminal analyzes information on the type of the obtained core network to identify whether the core network is a GSM-MAP core network or an ANSI-41 core network(S112). If the interworking core network is the GSM-MAP core network, the asynchronous terminal operates an asynchronous CC, MM protocol entity existing at a layer 3(S113). The asynchronous terminal selects an RRC message to be transmitted to a radio network of an asynchronous communication system(S114). The asynchronous terminal makes information elements of the selected RRC message in a method defined in the existing 3GPP specification, generates an RRC message and transmits it to a radio network of the asynchronous communication system(S115). If the interworking core network is an ANSI-41 core network, a synchronous core network, the asynchronous terminal operates a synchronous CC, MM protocol entity existing at the layer 3(S116). The asynchronous terminal selects an RRC message to be transmitted to the radio network of an asynchronous communication system(S117), and extracts unnecessary information element from the selected RRC message(S118). The asynchronous terminal inserts a new information factor related to the ANSI-41 core network, instead of the extracted information factor, to generate an RRC message having a new structure, and transmits the generated RRC message to the radio network of the asynchronous communication system.
