PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for tracking a near field optical record reproducing system is provided to perform a tracking easily by forming a grating in an internal beam region of a critical angle of an objective lens. CONSTITUTION: An SIL(solid immersion lens)(8) generating an evanescent wave to an upper part of a disk(9) is formed on a block B and an objective lens(10) refracts light to the SIL(8). A grating(11) is formed in a critical angle region of the objective lens(10) and has an appointed thickness(d) and width(p). A laser diode(6) in a block A generates a light source. A photo diode(7) detects a diffracted light refracting or penetrating a grating(11) of the objective lens(10).
