PURPOSE: A protocol converter is provided to reduce a work load of the CPUs when making an access to an internal memory by using an FSM(Finite State Machine), and exchange data among the systems with various protocols. CONSTITUTION: The device, installed between the systems(200,400) using other protocols, comprises a DMA(direct Memory Access) channel(110) and an FSM(120). The DMA channel(110) makes a direct access to a memory device(220) without a help of a CPU(210) to read or write data. The FSM(120) receives control signals of the CPU(210), outputs control signals to control the DMA channel(110), and exchanges data with a common memory(300) connected to the systems(200,400). The DMA channel(110) includes N channels according to the kind of the memory. The FSM(120) includes a combinational logic circuit(121) and a memory element(122) and sequentially refers the addresses of the common memory(300) according to the variation of the state stored in the memory element(121).
