PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicon carbide powder capable of densifying a green body and a silicon carbide sintered body, and further to provide a method for producing the green body having the high density and excellent in handleability by using the silicon carbide powder, and a method for producing the silicon carbide sintered body having the high density. SOLUTION: This silicon carbide powder is characterized is that the silicon carbide powder comprises a silicon carbide powder having 1.7-2.7 μm frequent diameter and a silicon carbide powder having 10.5-21.5 μm most frequent diameter regulated so that the volume percentage of fine particle side may be 20-80%, and the method for producing the green body and the method for producing the silicon carbide sintered body by using the silicon carbide powder are also provided.
