PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material in an optical recording medium having excellent light resistance and storage stability and capable of applying to a DVD-R disc system using a semiconductor laser having an oscillation wavelength in a short wavelength. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium comprising a recording layer provided on a substrate in such a manner that the medium contains an azo compound represented by formula and an at least one type of azo metal chelate compound made of a metal or its salt (wherein X is a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom, Y1 is substituents of n (n=0 means no substituent) of integer number directly bonded to an aromatic ring (in which another aromatic ring may be condensed to a naphthalane ring) of a region (A) surrounded by a broken line, Y2 is substituents of m (m=0 means no substituent) directly bonded to a heterocycle of a region (B) surrounded by a broken line, and Z1 is a substituent having an active hydrogen group). |
