PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side air bag device for an automobile allowing increase in an air bag unfolding capacity without causing problem such as defective molding, breakage due to external force, and increase in the size of a seat or deterioration in an appearance due to external installation. SOLUTION: In this side bag device for an automobile, an air bag module 14 is built in a seat back 3 formed by covering a cushion pad 6 arranged in a seat frame 4 with a skin 7. In the side air bag device, a housing recess part 17 allowing storage of the air bag module 14 is formed while opened laterally in a vehicle width outside end part 6a of the cushion pad 6. A left (non-woven fabric) formed along the outside of the seat back 3 is arranged in the opening of the housing recess part 17, while a slit 22 is formed in the part, to which a unfolding pressure is applied, of the felt 20, and the felt 20 is integrally molded with the cushion pad 6. |
