PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a cooling property of an intake valve, an exhaust valve, and blocks with a simple structure so as to improve durability of those member, in an internal combustion engine wherein blocks into which the intake valve and the exhaust valve are assembled in fitted to a cylinder head. SOLUTION: In the overhead valve type internal combustion engine 2, a cylinder 8 and the cylinder head 9 are integrally molded, the intake valve 51 and the exhaust valve 53 are assembled into blocks 54, 55 having a intake valve seat 77, an intake valve guide 80, an exhaust valve seat 79, and an exhaust valve guide 82, and the blocks 54, 55 are fitted to fitting holes 71, 73, 72, 74 of the cylinder head 9 from the cylinder head 9 side. The fitting holes 71, 73, 72, 74 are opened to a ventilating path 44 formed on the cylinder head 9, and cooling fins 54a, 55a are disposed on an outer surface that is brought into contact with cooling air flowing the ventilating path 44 in the blocks 54, 55.
