PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate tilting device for a gate lifter loading and unloading a luggage and allowing to attain compactness and low price. SOLUTION: A gate Tc is vertically moves through a slider 24 in a post 2 by vertically moving an ascending/descending means at a tip and the like of a piston rod 3a of a hydraulic cylinder 3. The gate is provided with a projecting part 41 projecting toward an opposite side of a tip of a pin 24 of the gate for the slider and a ground part 42 for making a lower part near the pin 26 contact to the ground. A changing means 43 for changing a state of the gate between a tilting state where the tip thereof contacts to the ground and an approximately horizontal state is provided between the projecting part of the gate and the tip of the piston rod. The changing means is provided with first - third linkages 31, 44, 45 for changing the gate state to the horizontal state by pushing down the projecting part by suspending forth of the piston rod when the ground part dose not contact to the ground while changing the gate state to the tilting state by self-weight after releasing the force to push the projecting part down when the ground part contacts to the ground.
