SOLUTION: This jacket for an animal is worn on a rat to protect the back of the rat, and includes a jacket body 1 worn on the rat without covering the back, and a protector 2 having air permeability and fixed to the jacket body 1 to cover the back at a space not to touch the back. The jacket body 1 includes fixing bands 4, 5 for wearing, which are provided along the waist of the rat to fasten the rat in the direction of the waist but are fixed in an arbitrary position in the direction of the waist of the rat, and also includes a protector fixing part 10 for fixing the protector 2 from the outside when removably fixing the protector 2 to the jacket body 1.
