PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly form piles having a predetermined height by accurately setting the tension of a pile warp to be lower than that in a stationary state during pile formation in a pile weaving machine. SOLUTION: In a let-off motion 1 for a pile warp, the tension T of a pile warp 2 is set to be lower than the tension of a stationary state by connecting an electric quantity-power converting means (15) to the mechanical support system (8, 9) of a tension roller 6, inputting electric signals to the electric quantity-power converting means (15), changing their outputs and giving the changed portion to the a mechanical support system (8, 9) in the direction of the tension roller 6 reducing the tension T of the pile warp 2.
