PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impairment in durability of an elastic body though usability in common is improved as compared to before. SOLUTION: This gripper 1 has a first annular elastic body 17 and a second annular elastic body 18 provided side by side in a housing 15; insertion parts 17', 18' formed in the elastic bodies 17, 18; an opening/closing valve supplying/ discharging a pressure fluid into/from both the elastic bodies 17, 18 to expand/ contact inner diameters of both the insertion parts 17', 18'; and an expansion prevention member 19 provided such that the expansion prevention member 19 can advance into and retreat from the insertion part 17' of the first elastic body 17. The expansion prevention member 19 advances to an advance position allowing deep insertion of the expansion prevention member 19 in the insertion part 17' and retreats to a retreat position. In a state that the expansion prevention member 19 is inserted in the insertion part 17', the expansion prevention member 19 prevents free contraction of the insertion part 17' in that portion and contracts the insertion part 18' in the other portion.
