PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for arterial blood which can efficiently remove air and other particles from blood while suppressing the breakage or the damage of hemocytes. SOLUTION: This filter for arterial blood comprises a first section 18 and a second section 20. The filter is equipped with an external housing 14 having an inlet 22 and an outlet 29 for blood, a vent 23 which is formed on one of the first and the second sections and discharges air, a filter element 16 which is arranged in the external housing and filters blood, and an internal housing 12 which is arranged between the filter element and the external housing. The internal housing substantially extends to the total length of the filter element, and has at least one opening on the bottom surface of the internal housing.
