PURPOSE: A toner and a method for forming an image are provided, to make the good image forming property be shown in the electronic photo image formation contact with a image-having member continuously for a long time. CONSTITUTION: The toner comprises toner particles comprising a binder resin and iron oxide particles, wherein the toner particles are such that the ratio of a carbon content to an iron content at a toner particle surface is less than 0.001 when it is measured by X-ray ESCA, a circularity is greater than 0.970, and it contains 50 number% or more of toner particles with a D/C value smaller than 0.02 (wherein C is circular diameter corresponding to the projected area of each toner particle based on the cross section of a toner particle measured by TEM, and D is a minimum distance from the surface of a toner particle to an iron oxide particle). Preferably the toner particle is prepared by the polymerization in water-dispersive media.
