PURPOSE: A sewing machine is provided to improve precision of a drive frame in the case of driving the drive frame of the sewing machine in Y-direction. CONSTITUTION: A sewing machine(1) includes a drive frame(11) mounted on the table(3) of the sewing machine(1) and at least two Y-direction drive mechanisms(8) arranged at a spacing in the right-and left directions of the sewing machine(1) for driving the drive frame in the back-and forth directions of the sewing machine(1). The sewing machine(1) includes an upper frame(4, 5) elected over the table(3). Each of the Y-direction drive mechanisms(8) includes a rail(17) mounted on the upper frame(4, 5) and extending in the back-and-forth directions of the sewing machine(1), a moving portion(18) mounted on the rail(17) slidably in the back-and forth directions of the sewing machine(1) and jointed to the drive frame(11), and a drive portion(19) for driving the moving portion(18) in the back-and-forth directions of the sewing machine(1).
