PURPOSE: An apparatus for a compatible optical pick-up is provided to guarantee a mass production of a beam splitter by arranging a major axis of an elliptic beam and a polarized light orthogonally. CONSTITUTION: The first and the second light source(13,15) radiate laser beam from different wavelength regions. The first and the second beam splitter(13,25) change a processing route of an incident ray. An objective lens focuses an incident ray and enables the incident ray to be formed in a recording medium(10) as an optical spot. An optical detector(40) receives a reflected light from the recording medium(10).
