PURPOSE: An inlet/outlet port opening/shutting apparatus for air conditioner is provided to prevent accident and improve user convenience by employing an infrared sensor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises an operation signal input unit(110) for inputting a signal for operation of air conditioner in accordance with a user operation; a human body sensing unit(120) mounted at the front surface of the air conditioner and which senses whether a human body exists within a predetermined distance; a door unit(130) mounted at inlet/outlet ports of the air conditioner, and which opens inlet/outlet ports while the air conditioner is in operation and shuts inlet/outlet ports when the air conditioner is not in operation; a micro computer(140) for taking as an input signals from the operation signal input unit and the human body sensing unit and determining operation and state of the door unit; a human body sensing unit driving unit(150) for determining operation of the human body sensing unit in accordance with the control signal of the micro computer; and a door driving unit(160) for determining operation of the door unit in accordance with the control signal of the micro computer.
