PURPOSE: A method for automatically interrupting a signal tone in a WLL(Wireless Local Loop) terminal is provided to minimize unnecessary current consumption by automatically detecting whether a handset is mounted abnormally and compulsorily cutting the signal tone in case that the handset keeps installed abnormally so that the terminal can automatically be put in a standby state. CONSTITUTION: A WLL terminal is provided with an RF/IF block(10), an MSM processor(20), an LCD(30), a keypad(40), a memory(50), a CODEC(60), and a handset(70). The RF/IF block(10) transmits and receives radio frequency with a base station through an antenna(ANT). The MSM processor(20) executes the overall control of the terminal. The MSM processor(20) comprises a hook detect terminal(IN) to detect the on/off states of a hook switch(SW). Using the hook detect terminal(IN), the MSM processor(20) detects whether the handset(70) is hooked on or off.
