PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing, conveniently in a simple manner, an ionic polymer compound from which ionic low-mol.-wt. compound impurities have been removed efficiently to a high degree. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution containing ionic low-mol.-wt. compound impurities and an ionic polymer compound having salt-forming groups is treated with an ion-exchange resin and then neutralized, thus giving the objective polymer compound.
