PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment method and a treatment method for electroless plating, which are capable of executing good electroless plating to a plastic formed product and making the surface of the plastic product coarse without discharging the waste water containing harmful chromium, and without necessitating neutralization treatment of the waste water after ozone treatment and auxiliary facilities of an ultraviolet irradiating device, a heating device or the like. SOLUTION: The pretreatment method for electroless plating is comprised of a process making the surface of a plastic formed product 3 coarse by using an aqueous solution of a hydrogen carbonic acid compound and ozone.
