PURPOSE: To efficiently encode a foreground in a series of pictures. CONSTITUTION: A foreground extract section 41 extracts a foreground from each of 1 st- N-th frames, and a foreground storage image configuration section 43 configures a forward storage picture resulting from overlapping the foregrounds of the 1st - N-th frames when viewing from future pictures and a backward storage picture resulting from overlapping the foregrounds of the 1st - N-th frames when viewing from past pictures. Then a learning section 45 uses the forward storage picture and the backward storage picture to obtain a prediction coefficient for linearly predicting the foreground of each frame, and a MUX(multiplexer) 51 outputs the prediction coefficient, the forward storage picture and the backward storage picture as a coding result of the foreground of the 1st - N-th frames, respectively. |
