PURPOSE: A compaction wheel having replaceable cleats is provided which is simple and economical to manufacture. CONSTITUTION: A compaction wheel(10) comprises a rigid cylinder forming an outside rim(16) which has an external surface, an internal surface, and a plurality of cleat receiving openings(50) each extending between the external surface and the internal surface, and a plurality of cleats(60) detachably attached onto the external surface of the outside rim. Each cleat has a tongue which can be inserted into one of the cleat receiving openings. The tongue includes an opening which is arranged in a radially inside region from a side of the outside rim when the cleat is installed in the cleat receiving opening. Further, each rod has a plurality of connection rods(70b) provided therefor, which each are formed to extend through the opening of one of the tongues of the cleat when the cleat is installed in the cleat receiving opening and hence the cleat is fixed to the outside rim.
