PURPOSE: An exercise amount measuring device for a hula hoop and a control method thereof are provided to monitor a calorie-consumption and reduction of waist size according to a rotation number of the hula hoop, by directly checking the exercise effect with numerals. CONSTITUTION: An exercise amount measuring device for a hula hoop and a control method thereof includes a housing(1) having a display window(2) on a top surface for displaying a predetermined data value, a count switching element mounted at a side surface of the housing to be driven on/off by one rotation of the hula hoop to count a rotation number of the hula hoop, a reset button(5b) mounted at a side of the display window of the housing for resetting numerals displayed on the window and initiating the counting operation, a printed circuit board incorporated in the housing and formed with a circuit pattern to electrically contact the count switching element, a control element mounted to the printed circuit board for carrying out the counting according to the on-off driving of the count switching element to display numerals on the display window, and a fixing element(8) of which a side is fitted in the hula hoop fixedly and the other side is fitted in the housing fixedly.
