PURPOSE: A gravel-drain(GD) method appliable to the stabilization of poor ground, a gravel compaction pile(GCP) method, and a construction apparatus suitable for the methods are provided to reduce construction costs and to facilitate supply and demand by using gravel instead of sand. CONSTITUTION: A GD method comprises six steps. In the first step, a vibration hammer(1) is operated, and a casing pipe(2) is inserted into the ground. In the second step, gravel is supplied into the inside of the casing pipe through a hopper. In the third step, the inside of the casing pipe is pressed so that the internal pressure reaches a designed pressure. In the fourth step, the casing pipe is pulled out about 3 meters. In the fifth step, the pulled casing-pipe is inserted again by the vibration hammer, and the inside gravel column of the casing pipe is compacted. In the sixth step, the casing pipe is pulled out until the gravel of the casing pipe keeps 1.5 meters, and then the steps from 2 to 6 are repeated.
