PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molded article for an optical recording medium excellent in moldability and low birefringence. SOLUTION: The molding material for the optical recording medium comprises a polycarbonate derived from formulae (A) (wherein R1 to R4 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-5C alkyl group, a 6-12C aryl group, a 2-5C alkenyl group, a 1-5C alkoxy group and a 7-17C aralkyl group) and (B) (wherein R5 to R6 are each a 1-6C aliphatic group; and X is a random copolymer of dimethylsiloxane and diphenylsiloxane, the polymerization degree being 2-200). In this case, the formula (A) is present in 30-80 wt.% of the total amount of the formulae (A) and (B), and the intrinsic viscosity is 0.2-0.5 dl/dg. |
