PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair tonic and to provide a shampoo having a hair- restoring action. SOLUTION: This hair tonic containing proanthocyanidin dimmer to pentamer having a galloyl group content of <=10 mol.% per the constituting monomer of the proanthocyanidin [for example, contains the proanthocyanidin not having the galloyl group in an amount of >= 20% (w/w) based on the total proanthocyanidin compounds] as an active ingredient, and a shampoo containing the hair tonic.
