PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shearing machine capable of conducting return mode operations without replacing a back gauge with a reversal type one. SOLUTION: The sharing machine is provided with a table 2 forward installed, an upper cutting edge 6 and a lower cutting edge 3 for shearing a work W, a back gauge 7 fixed in the vertical direction, and a conveyor device 12 installed below the back gauge 7. After the work carried-in through the table 2 strikes the back gauge 7 to be positioned, the whole conveyor device 12 is lowered, and the work W is sheared by the co-operation of the upper cutting edge 6 and the lower cutting edge 3. A sheared off work W1 is placed on the conveyor device 12, and after the whole of the conveyor device 12 is inclined so that the front part is at about the same height as the table 2 and the rear part is lower than the table to form a space between the back gauge 7 and the conveyor device, the conveyor device is reversed to carry out the sheared-off work W1 onto the front table 2.
