PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broken-type structure without lowering the sealing performance and excavate a curve part of a tunnel even in a case of having a relatively small difference in the shield body outside diameters between a slave shield machine and a master shield machine. SOLUTION: The master and the slave shield machine are so formed that a relatively large diameter tunnel 8 is excavated by the master shield machine and a relatively small diameter tunnel 8' is excavated by the slave shield machine started from the mater shield machine. The broken structure 25 mutually slidably connecting front barrels 26, 30 and a rear barrel 31 comprising the shield body 32 of the slave shield machine is incorporated in the shield body 1 of the master shield machine as a connected structural body constituted integrally.
