PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake body for a vacuum cleaner and a vacuum cleaner using the same capable of placing a connection pipe parallel to a surface to be cleaned easily, speedily and smoothly only by bringing down the connection pipe, without inching the intake body against the connection pipe in bringing down the connection pipe. SOLUTION: This intake body for a vacuum cleaner comprises an intake body 31 with an intake room 40 having an opening in the bottom, a pipe attaching member 33 attached to the intake body 31, and a connection pipe 32 one end of which is attached to the pipe attaching member 33. The pipe attaching member 33 is rotatable around the axis extending front/rear and communicates with the intake room 4. The connection pipe 32 is rotatable upward/downward by the upward/downward rotation extending in the lateral direction and communicates with the pipe attaching member 33. The connection pipe 32 is formed of a straight line.
