PURPOSE: Provided are a water soluble ink composition having high chroma and excellent in water resistance and light resistance, which comprises a direct dye and an acidic dye, and an ink jet type recording device using the water soluble ink composition. CONSTITUTION: The blue ink composition contains a xanthene-based Magenta dye, C.I. Direct Red 227, and a copper phthalocyanine dye, wherein the weight ratio of the xanthene-based Magenta dye to the copper phthalocyanine dye is 1:11 to 1:50. And the red ink composition contains the xanthene-based Magenta dye, the C.I. Direct Red 227, and a yellow dye, wherein the weight ratio of the xanthene-based Magenta dye to the C.I. Direct Red 227 is 1:2 to 1:4.
