PURPOSE: A method of fabricating and playing a CD is to provide an index file having information of each file when fabricating the CD and record the index file with MP3 or MP4 file, and previously read the index file when playing the MP3 or MP4 file to grasp a kind of the recorded MP3 or MP4 file. CONSTITUTION: In the fabricating method, first, an MP3 or MP4 file is selected. An index film having information of the selected MP3 or MP4 file is written. The selected MP3 or MP4 file is recorded on a CD together with the index file to complete the CD. The index file has a format such as a playing order as well as the information of the MP3 or MP4 file. In the playing method, the CD, on which the MP3 or MP4 file and index file is recorded, is inserted into a player. The index file is read by the player. The player is operated according to a format of the index file. The classification of MP3 or MP4 files to be played is set in the player. The MP3 or MP4 file is played by the player according to the preset classification of the files.
