PURPOSE: A method for searching a proxy root in a PNNI(Private Network to Node Interface) network is provided to execute a rapid response for a leaf setup request by carrying out PNNI flooding for information on an LIJ(Leaf Initiated Join) call through a routing protocol, searching for a proxy root of a network LIJ, based on flooded information, and sending the leaf setup request to the proxy root. CONSTITUTION: If a node receives a setup message of a network LIJ PTMP(Point To Multi-Point) call(S1), the node confirms whether it itself is a DTL(Designated Transit List) generator(S2). If it is judged that the node itself is not the DTL generator, the node forwards the setup message(S3). But, in case that it is judged that the node itself is the DTL generator, the node recognizes that a new network LIJ PTMP call has been generated, sets up proxy root information after confirming a proxy domain and floods proxy root information to a peer group(S4). Afterwards, if each node receives flooded proxy root information(S5), each node confirms whether it itself is a PGL(Peer Group Lead)(S6). If a node judges that it itself is the PGL, the node levels up proxy root information and feeds it to a higher-level LGN(Logical Group node)(S7).
