PURPOSE: A method for executing an initialization according to a change of a configuration shape in an unmanaged Ethernet switch is provided to achieve a switch initialization suitable for a modified configuration shape by storing configuration information, depending on the configuration shapes of unmanaged Ethernet switches, in an EEPROM installed in a main board and an EEPROM installed in an option board and connecting or interrupting a path for a corresponding EEPROM in changing a configuration shape of an unmanaged Ethernet switch. CONSTITUTION: If power for switch operations is supplied to the first EEPROM installed in a main board by an unmanaged Ethernet switch manager(S41), a bus switch in the main board confirms whether an option board is installed in the first option slot of the main board(S42). If the option board is installed in the first option slot, the bus switch connects a path for the first EEPROM(S43). The register initial values of switching chips stored in the first EEPROM are transferred to a crossbar switch(S44), the crossbar switch transfers the initial values to corresponding switching chip registers so that switch initializations can be achieved(S45).
