<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new intermediate for easily synthesizing under mild conditions in high yield a hydantocidin having excellent herbicidal and plant growth inhibitory activities. SOLUTION: This intermediate is a compound shown by the structural formula (1) (wherein, R1 is a protective group for carbodiimido group; R2 is a protected carboxyl or carbamoyl group as COR2; and R3, R4 and R5 are each a hydroxyl-protective group or such that R3 and R4, or R4 and R5 are joined together to form a diol-protective group).</p> |
