PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently construct a steel tower. SOLUTION: In the steel tower construction method, an undermost layer of a steel tower 2 is constructed, and a work stage 3 is set above the undermost layer via a climbing mechanism 4. Thereafter, a step of upward extending the steel tower by lifting building materials 9 by means of a carrying mechanism 5 mounted on the work stage, and a step of elevating the work stage by eliminating reaction from the steel tower constructed by the climbing mechanism, are repeatedly carried out, and finally the work stage is fixed to the top of the steel tower as a platform. The carrying mechanism employs a trolley hoist 10 which lifts the construction materials and carries out horizontal movement of itself to horizontally carry the construction materials. The steel tower is provided with suspended scaffolding which is for use in climbing up/down the work stage.
