PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut leaves and stalks just above a root in harvesting root vegetables such as carrot and the like by a root vegetable harvester. SOLUTION: In a harvester which pull out root vegetables planted in a farm by nipping leaves and stalks of them by a pull out conveyor and convey them backward, level their heights by pressing the upper parts of the conveyed root vegetables by a height-leveling device and cut the leaves and stalks by a cutter, the height leveling device is constituted by installing height-leveling plates constituting the device to face on the both sides of a conveying passage with certain spaces, to pass the leaves and stalks through the spaces and to level the heights by rubbing the upper part of the root vegetables against the lower surface of the device. The height leveling plates are divided into several pieces in the forth and back direction. Each of the divided pieces is brought to be movable to the partner direction and able to elastically force toward the partner.
