BRANCH STARTING METHOD FOR MULTI-CONNECTED SHIELD MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branch starting method for a multi-connected shield machine forming a clearance between a spacer of a connecting mechanism connecting adjoining shield machines and a shield machine so as to be separate them, while holding a cut-off performance. SOLUTION: This branch starting method is provided with a first process detaching a connecting pin of the connecting mechanism and communicating a connecting pin hole 67 extending across a pair of pedestals 54, 55 and the spacer 52; a second process oppositely assembling a pair of jack mechanisms 84, 85 from the both sides of the connecting pin hole 67 and sealing the both ends of the connecting pin hole 62 watertightly; a third process operating one jack mechanism 84 in the shield machine in one side of the spacer 52 so as to separate the shield machine from the spacer 52; and a forth process branch- starting the shield machine.
