<p>PURPOSE: A real-time audio and video communication method on the Internet and an apparatus therefor are provided so that a receiver can always be in a receiving enable state, without accessing internet continuously, as the receiver registers his communication capability and current status in the homepage of a web server he accesses and a transmitter starts communication after accessing the homepage. CONSTITUTION: If a receiver pushes an audio/video call button while performing an Internet voice call with a transmitter(444,446), a receiving side terminal hangs up the line, starts modem access to an ISP(Internet Service Provider) and begins a digital communication channel(448). The ISP sends a preset standby message to the transmitter(450). If the digital communication channel is connected with the receiving side(452), the ISP transmits a Q931+H.245 start-up procedure to the receiving side using voice start information sent from the transmitter. The receiving side terminal receives the standard start-up protocol and begins H.323 audio/video access(454,456).</p> |
