PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided which has high light utilization efficiency, small lag and high response speed. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a common electrode(3), a plurality of pixels constructed in a manner that pixel electrodes(4) and semiconductor switches(7) are arranged, scan signal lines(6), image signal lines(5) outputting signals to the pixel electrodes, an array substrate on which the pixels, scan signal lines and image signal lines are arranged, an opposite substrate opposing the array substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sealed between the array substrate and the opposite substrate. At least one of a pair of electrodes constructed of a common electrode and pixel electrode or at least one of the electrodes has a shape different from that of other pair or electrode.
