PURPOSE: An external rear view mirror of a motor vehicle is provided which has one-piece mirror system with a concave auxiliary area directly associated with one side of vehicle and a concave main area on opposite side. CONSTITUTION: The mirror has a housing attached to a vehicle and an adjustable mirror system(4) with a main mirror area(2) for acquiring the central viewing area and an auxiliary mirror area(3) for expanding the rearward field of view including coverage of the dead zone. The mirror system(4) is in one piece and the auxiliary area(3) is associated immediately with one side(9) of the vehicle. The main area(2) connected to it is on the opposite side from the vehicle side, whereby the auxiliary area is a concave mirror(7) and the main area is a convex mirror(8).
