PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel(PDP) and a structure thereof are provided to reduce the width of an address pulse and to increase the resolution of the PDP, by preventing an addressing failure or mis-writing of the PDP by increasing the amount of priming particles in a discharge cell. CONSTITUTION: Address electrodes(500) are formed on a bottom substrate(200) continuously. A barrier rib(300) installed on the plasma display panel is formed on one-sided position, not on the center between each address electrode. Subsidiary electrodes(400) are formed between address electrodes to be adjacent to each address electrode. The subsidiary electrodes are connected in common on the outer block of a display region of the panel, and are narrower than the width of the address electrode. A subsidiary pulse which is turned on periodically is applied to the subsidiary electrode. The subsidiary pulse has the same period as an address pulse applied to the address electrode, and a high voltage level is 60-90 Volts. The On period of the subsidiary pulse is above 2 micro seconds, and the subsidiary pulse is applied to the subsidiary electrode only during an address period of the PDP. While the subsidiary pulse is applied to the subsidiary electrode, the address pulse which is turned on selectively is applied to the address electrode. Each address electrode can be applied with a turned-on address pulse or a turned-off address pulse according to an image data. Then, when the address pulse is turned on, a scan pulse is applied to a scan electrode. The scan pulse is applied per one line according to the image data. |
