PURPOSE: A sealed battery is provided to lower the internal heating amount, restrain additional electrochemical reaction and secure safety by making resistance value to zero or near to zero of the short-circuit area when a battery temperature is rapidly increased due to excessive charging or other reasons, and the battery has a short-circuit by exceeding the a meltdown temperature. CONSTITUTION: The sealed battery comprises a cathode formed by coating an active material(6) composed of lithium-metal oxides on a metallic base plate(2); an anode formed by coating a carbon and carbon based active material(8) on a metallic base plate(4); an electrode group wound together by interposing a porous separator(10) between the cathode and the anode, wherein base plates which are not coated with the active materials are arranged at the winding ends of the cathode and anode, and the length of the base plates of the cathode and anode each of which are oppositely directed is formed to more than a half of the circumference of the electrode group; and a case sealed by carrying electrolyte along with the electrode group.
