<p>Compsns. consist of an oestrogen with dissociated peripheral and distinctly central activity such as an oestrogen-active steroid with a 7 alpha-menthyl gp., together with a cpd. of formula (I): (where Ro = amino; R1 and R2 = lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxyl, halogen, CF3, nitro, amino or H; R1 = Cl, Me or H; R5 = H, OH or lower alkanoyloxy; R6 = H or R5+R6 form together an oxo-gp.; R7 = H or R6=H and R5+R7 form a second bond) including non-toxic salts of (I), together with pharmaceutically-acceptable carriers. Most pref. are compsns. consisting of 7 alpha-methyloestrone (B) and 9-(methylaminomethyl)-9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene (A). Compsns. may be used in the treatment of anxiety and tension in the menopausal syndrome or of climacteric disorders, etc. The oestrogen components control the vegetative symptoms, the tranquilliser controls the anxiety and tension.</p> |
