PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To furthermore improve oxidation performance of hydrocarbon and durability for a catalyst prepared by carrying platinum and palladium on an alumina carrier for oxidation of hydrocarbon with a low concentration in exhaust gas containing SOx or no SOx and excess oxygen. SOLUTION: A catalyst for oxidation of hydrocarbon with a low concentration in exhaust gas wherein the catalyst is prepared by carrying platinum and palladium on an alumina carrier for oxidation of hydrocarbon with a low concentration in exhaust gas and the catalyst is prepared by carrying a platinum compound on an alumina carrier by using a platinum compound solution whose pH is adjusted at 1-7 and then, carrying a palladium compound thereon by using a palladium compound solution whose pH is lower than 0 and thereafter, drying and calcining it and a method for preparing it are provided.
