PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding-out fork having a part which overhangs a stage in a rack, which can have a small thickness in its entirety, and which can store and retrieve loads, with the use of a rack stage having a height which is lower than that of a conventional one. SOLUTION: An intermediate fork 42 slidably mounted on the top part of a stationary fork 41 is composed of two guide roller receiving blocks 55, an intermediate coupling block 56 having a gate type structure. Flange parts 66 formed at widthwise ends of the guide roller receiving blocks 55 are held between upper stationary guide rollers 50 and lower stationary guide rollers 51, and the guide roller receiving blocks are formed therein with guide grooves 59 for forward end guide rollers 62 of a forward end fork 43. A drive device 71 for sliding the intermediate fork 42 and the forward end fork 42, is composed of intermediate fork drive sprockets 47, 48, a forward end form extending drive sprocket 57, and a forward end fork retracting drive sprocket 57 which are all arranged horizontally.
