PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel material completely different from conventionally known brown algae fucoidan-derived materials as an anti-thrombin active material which can be prepared with no problem. SOLUTION: This anti-thrombin active material is a sulfated heteropolysaccharide which has a sulfate group (20.5%) and a uronic acid residue (7.1%), and contains fucose, xylose, mannose, galactose and glucose in a ratio of 1.00:0.35:0.28:0.22:0.15, and has an average molecular weight of 222 kDa as measured by gel permeation chromatography.
