<p>PURPOSE: Disclosed is a modified sequencing batch reactor system for the treatment of nitrogen/phosphate wastewater. CONSTITUTION: The modified SBR system consists of a first batch reactor, a second batch reactor, post chlorination, and activated carbon adsorption sequentially. Each batch reactor is packed with styrofoam media for immobilizing microorganisms and waste oyster shells are distributed at the bottom of the each reactor for activating microorganisms. As the first batch reactor is located at the higher position than the second batch reactor, it is possible to flow wastewater into the second batch reactor by only gravitation. After biological treatment in the batch reactors, treated water is post-chlorinated for eliminating materials causing colors, and finally flown into an activated carbon packed tower so that remaining chlorides are adsorbed into activated carbon.</p> |
