PURPOSE: A method and system for managing cache memory are provided to improve a hit ratio and to include sprite access function of the RAID(redundant array of independent) storage. CONSTITUTION: The method for managing the cache memory comprises the steps of determining whether request data exists in a first cache or not in response to the data access request of a host computer and whether the data exists in the second cache unless in the first one. If the data exists in the second cache, accessing the group of segments in a storage. The method comprises the steps of storing the segment group in the second cache and storing the first segment including request data in the first cache. If the requested data is stored in the first cache or if the first cache stores the first segment, accessing to the requested data.
