METHOD FOR PROVIDING CALLER ID SERVICE IN SWITCHING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for providing caller ID service in a switching system is provided to process a calling subscriber's phone number and name in a No.7 signaling method and display them on a called terminal so that the called subscriber can exactly recognize the caller's information. CONSTITUTION: If a call is generated from a calling subscriber(S401), an origination side exchange requests the call to a destination side exchange and judges whether a called subscriber corresponding to the generated call is registered in a name information display service(S402). If it is judged that the called subscriber is registered in the name information display service, the origination side exchange makes a message transmitting part transmit a name information request message to a name information database(S403). A message receiving part in the destination side exchange judges whether a response message is received from the name information database through a transaction capabilities application part(S404). If the response message is received from the name information database, the message receiving part displays caller name information comprised in the response message on the called terminal(S405).
