PURPOSE: A train rear sensing system and a control method thereof are provided to easily manage and repair a train rear device by reducing the size and the weight of the rear device, accurately detect the release of the connection with a freight car, and prevent a rear-ending collision due to the release. CONSTITUTION: A train rear sensing system includes a rear device(200) mounted on a rear train, detecting the pressure of a braking pipe and the acceleration speed of the rear train for judging whether the connection with a freight car is released or not, and receiving and transmitting the signals related to the state of the rear by radio; and a cab device(100) mounted on a locomotive, receiving the signals related to the release of the connection with the freight car and the state of the rear for displaying and alarming, and braking the train.
